Sameskolstyrelsen (SamS)

The Sami School Decree prescribes that the Sami Education Board, in agreement with a municipality, can complete the municipality’s tasks by means of preschool classes, preschool and youth recreation centers for Sami children.

These activities are financed by the municipalities themselves and should be carried out in accordance with the goals set up by the school law, preschool curriculum, the municipality’s goals and guidelines and the local school guidelines from the Sami Education Board. In addition the activities should have a Sami profile with the primary goal being to strengthen the Sami language, culture, identity, traditions and values.
